Apiaguaiki Tumpa

Apiaguaiki Tumpa (c.1844-1872) is regarded in Paraguay as a Guaraní national hero known for his struggle in defence of his peoples' land and liberty, eventually he was killed by the Paraguayan army aged just twenty eight. His death is commemorated annually in parts of Paraguay and a Guaraní language university in Paraguay is named after him.
